Happy 2018! December was crazy busy for me, so I’ve definitely missed doing nails. I wanted to get back into it with a fun look, and these new shades Sally Hansen sent to me were calling for a funky design!
I started off with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Va-Va Violet and Watermelon Wizz as my base colors. These shades are advertised as only needing one coat, and to my surprise they were completely opaque! They are thicker than most nail polishes, but since I only had used one coat it wasn’t a problem for me.
Once my base was dry (give or take a few minutes) I used a white polish (Deborah Lippmann Amazing Grace…my current go to!) to dot on the cheetah print. While a leopard print – there’s a difference!!! – is more common, cheetah print is much easier. You can be lazy with it, the more abstract and random the dots are the better! I did these with a paint brush, but a toothpick would work just as well.
Once the cheetah print was finished, I went back in with yellow polish (Artistic Colour Revolution Sun’s Out, Bun’s Out) for the zebra stripes. This takes a bit more precision, but I like to start with a wavy line and then go back and make one side a bit thicker, then smooth out the stripe. Alternate the thicker ends and you have yourself a zebra stripe!
Happy New Year!
