If you couldn’t already tell by the huge amount of donut posts on social media that it is #NationalDonutDay, its a national holiday celebrating donuts! If a holiday involves food, count me in. This “holiday” needed some donut nail art!
I had my mind set on doing donut nails all day and eventually got around to it in the afternoon. I went to the donut shop fairly early (shoutout Simone’s Donuts in Long Beach, the best!) picked out my sprinkle donut, and got sidetracked. Never so bad have I wanted to eat a donut! But had to wait until the nails were done…
A lot of the donut nails I’ve seen today involved a pink base color. I wanted to switch it up a bit and just pulled a color at random. Turns out…this color is SO gorgeous! It is Boho Blues by China Glaze.
After painting this base color, taking pictures, messing them up, repainting, etc…I ended up using white as a base on my middle finger and thumb. Looked strange with a blue background for sprinkles! A lot of times you see my completed final look, but there’s actually a lot of redoing things before I like it enough to post.
I really tried to match the nail polishes as close to perfect to the real sprinkles as I could! From L->R: OPI Fashion A Bow, China Glaze Ever Glaze Orange You Obsessed?, China Glaze Sun’s Up Top Down, CND Vinyl Lush Tropics, and OPI Hey Baby.
I started painting large circles in CND Cream Puff and putting a small dot of Boho Blues in the center to make the donut shape. I’m pretty picky when it comes to white polishes but this one is really great, its a nice bright white. I painted small lines of sprinkles and that was it!
How did you celebrate National Donut Day? Tell me in the comments!
