Coca Cola by OPI GelColor

Coca Cola by OPI

Hello everyone! I recently got back from vacation so my posting schedule was a bit messed up. But now I’m back and have some fun nail art to share using the new Coca Cola by OPI collection! These nails were done using OPI’s GelColor line, so the shades are exactly the same as regular nail polish but with some added staying power.

This week I was out shopping and saw Cokes lined up with names and I frantically searched in hopes of finding my own. Unexpectedly I found it and knew it would go great with this nail design!

Gel polish is an amazing medium to use if you are trained in how to use it. OPI’s GelColor line is sold to professionals only, but the collection matches their regular nail polish selection too! Although using gel may not pertain to everyone, I think its great to understand how it works and how it should be applied/removed if you go to a salon.

For this design, I started off with my OPI Base and cured that. I applied 2 coats of Coca-Cola Red, curing 30 seconds between each coat. This is such a true red and applied amazingly. GelColor really applies as easy as polish, not to mention the brush is great. Its slightly shorter than the regular polish brush to allow for more control of the gel. I then began my nail art with the “Coca-Cola” logo on my 2 fingers using Alpine Snow (not a part of this particular collection).

When painting nail art using gel, I prefer to do a quick cure every so often to make sure the design stays in place. I use the OPI LED Light and place my hand in for under 10 seconds. This is especially important when layering colors or painting multiple coats so they don’t swirl together and mess up your art!

On my pinky nail I wanted to paint a Coke can pouring out soda. For the can, I used My Signature is “DC” along with black and white gel. For the soda pouring out, I painted on Today I Accomplished Zero, which was very fitting for the Coke Zero in my photo! It is a black polish with pinky-red glitter. I added in some fizzy bubbles and finished my design off with OPI’s gel top coat!

Overall I’m really excited about the collection! The colors are all unique and inspired by different sodas. Even though I went literal with this design, on their own the colors can be great for all sorts of nail art.
